This drawing represents the conceptual starting point of the Beneath the Surface series. Before color, before density, before distortion, there was line.

The composition already contains the essential tension of the later large-scale painting: multiple female figures positioned together, yet psychologically fragmented. The overlapping lines create a sense of instability and compression, as if identities are colliding rather than coexisting.

What appears spontaneous is in fact investigative. The continuous line functions almost like a psychological mapping, tracing gesture, vulnerability, concealment, and exposure simultaneously.

This study captures the raw structure of the idea before material weight and color were introduced. It is the skeletal form of the series, the moment where concept precedes surface.
