Superb Boa image - Boa - DR Congo

An exceptional and important Boa (Ngelima) figure.

Northeast Congo. Wood. 40 cm. 20th century. Only a handful of these rare cubist figures are known. The figure's hairstyle, the pierced ears for ear adornments, show features of female beauty. As a sculpture, the strong tapered torso, accentuated by the breasts and navel, the flowing arms and the rounded composition of the legs, the work of a gifted artist.
