Description from the seller
Title: Rare 5-Piece Bitossi Ceramics Set "Rimini Blu" – Aldo Londi – With Original Serial Numbers
Description:
Up for auction is a magnificent quintet from the famous "Rimini Blu" series, designed by Aldo Londi for Bitossi Ceramiche (Montelupo Fiorentino). This collection, born in 1959, represents a cornerstone of Italian Mid-Century Modern design. The set features the characteristic hand-engraved white refractory clay with geometric motifs and is coated with the vibrant cobalt blue crystalline glaze with emerald green undertones.
The lot includes:
1. Long Cat Sculpture: A classic of Londi's bestiary.
2. Jug/Carafe: Slender form with a tall handle.
3. Turret Vase (x2): Mirror-imaged pair.
4. Central Vase: Compact design with banded decoration.
Details and Authenticity:
The set holds extremely high collectible value as the original 'Made in Italy' label with its serial number is found on the bottom, a surefire guarantee of provenance and authenticity from the period.
Conditions:
The items present an overall good aesthetic condition. A consolidation repair is noted on the carafe’s handle (repositioned securely) and there are a few small superficial chips, intrinsic to Bitossi’s era refractory ceramic, which do not diminish the vintage charm.
An excellent opportunity to enrich a Mid-Century design collection with a coordinated and authentic set.
Shipping and Packaging:
Each piece will be carefully packed individually with professional protective material to ensure integrity during transport. Maximum care for shipping safety.
