Description from the seller
Large-format original work by contemporary artist Ricardo Valentim, part of the Start Series, created in 2007 and acquired at ARCO Madrid, one of Europe’s most important international contemporary art fairs.
The piece presents a powerful composition based on intervened film material, where the repetition of the word “START” and the handwritten inscriptions generate a reflection on memory, archive, political power, and the construction of history. The work incorporates references to the United Nations, political speeches, and documents of international relevance, questioning the official narrative and the way history is edited and projected.
The intense industrial yellow background, together with the C-print mounted on Diasec, provides a stout and contemporary physical presence. The Diasec technique offers depth, brightness, and a museum-ready finish.
