The museum director and art historian Dr. Friedhelm Häring describes the painterly universe of Ralf Altrieth as follows:
"There is a lot of poetry in this painting, as in all of the artist’s works. They are populated by narrative codes and fantastical tales. In this sense, Ralf Altrieth’s pictorial poems are a pure childlike chant... But the most surprising thing manifested in these canvases is a communicative tenderness for the states of mind of human beings."
The title ('Exercise to be a flower') suggests a path, a narrative, poetic dimension or sometimes simply humorous, without confining the image to a single interpretation.
An expressive painting, accessible and full of energy.
BIOGRAPHY:
Ralf Altrieth is a German-born painter and musician. Trained in his teens by painter Georg Schaible and then at the Nürtingen School of Fine Arts at the end of the 1980s, he has exhibited in France and Germany, notably at Galerie Hartmut Beck (Erlangen), MAC Paris and Galerie Théo de Seine (Paris). He lives and works today in the south of France.
