Medsan (Popsan) presents Digital Spectacle (デジタルの光景), a 40 × 40 cm hand-signed Giclée in a limited edition, number 1, from 2026, in rose tones, exploring Pop culture and traditional theatre with a social critique.
Description from the seller
With this square-format work, Medsan, under his alter ego Popsan, confirms his talent for visual storytelling and chiaroscuro, delivering a social critique that is at once poetic and ferocious. The artist targets one of the most sacred and ritualized spaces of Japanese culture: the traditional theatre stage.
The visual contrast is breathtaking. On the wooden stage, lit by the warm, raw, and flickering glow of braziers, a majestic actor dressed in heavy golden brocades and wearing a horned demon mask delivers an intense performance. But the true dramatic tension lies in the pit: the audience, though fully clad in Edo-period kimonos, has frozen faces, uniformly illuminated by the cold blue glow of a sea of smartphones aimed at the stage.
The impact of the work rests on this luminous and philosophical confrontation. Medsan transposes the contemporary obsession with “capturing everything” (the pursuit of virality, the refusal to live in the present) into an era when transmission was oral and ephemeral. The sacred is here profaned by the digital screen.
A masterful piece, atmospheric and deeply relevant, ideal for collectors seeking a work with a strong message, at the border between classical painting and conceptual urban art.

About the Workshop:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists gathered around a living and plural contemporary creation. Situated as a true center of artistic production, the workshop operates both in collaborative creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive inquiry, blending abstract art, naïve art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, produced, and supervised within the workshop, with a shared artistic standard and a distinct identity for each artist.
