Description from the seller
I’m continuing with the liquidation of my collection. Here you are bidding on a large lot (6 pieces) of fruit- / cheese-serving ceramic plates in a style similar to Villeroy & Boch ceramics. The plates are marked, but I could not find the brand. I bought the plates almost 40 years ago in Germany.
This ceramic is also known as majolica, or in France as barbotine.
The plates are handmade, so it’s normal that their colors vary somewhat. The decoration features grape leaves in various shades of green. One plate is slightly lighter than the others and bears a different stamp as well. But I bought them together back then.
The plates were produced around 1900, probably in Germany.
You are bidding on 6 small plates (16 cm).
The white spots on the undersides are glaze flaws that occurred during production. One plate is extremely well preserved for its age and shows virtually no signs of wear.
An ensemble that is today rare in its entirety and in this condition.
