Description from the seller

BróM-Silver Gelatine on Steel!
Marcus Kiel is a photographer and installation artist from Bochum. His works bridge the distance from bygone times to the here and now, and they bridge the gap between the today-now rare working world of swordmaking and the Generation Home Office and Information Technology. His photographs of the series 'Revier' depict life at a coal mine. But the rust that gnaws forward and becomes part of the image makes a process visible. One thing fades into history, the other asserts the present.
His works thereby gain a strong emotionality that sets itself apart from the hermeticity of a conventional photograph. History becomes tangible, the world of the mines retains its soul.
Marcus Kiel studied from 1990 to 1992 Art at the Braunschweig University of Art. His works on the history of the Ruhr region and Jewish history can be admired in numerous museums and collections, also in Chile and Ukraine.
