Marta Vidal - Tough mornings

Tough Mornings springs from a very concrete feeling: that moment when the day begins and you're not fully in it yet. I wanted to represent that mix of fatigue, routine, and resigned calm that we all recognize.
I chose an owl because it normally symbolizes wisdom, but here I take it to a much more human and everyday realm. Its expression and the elements that accompany it aim to create a close, almost intimate scene, with which anyone can identify.
I worked the piece with acrylic, leaving visible brushstrokes to add texture and reinforce its expressive character. I’m interested in the work not only being seen, but also “felt.”

This is a unique piece, made as part of my personal exploration of everyday emotions and how to represent them through figurative characters with a contemporary approach.
