Description from the seller
Bernard Loriot (1925-1998) – Honfleur, red boat – Oil on canvas
⸻
Description
Fascinating oil painting on canvas by Bernard Loriot (1925-1998), depicting a lively port scene in Honfleur, a famous Normandy locality deeply linked to the French painting tradition.
The composition comes alive around a distinctive red boat in the foreground, the central element that structures the color balance of the work. Around it, a port filled with boats, stylized figures and reflections on the water are treated with loose, luminous brushwork.
Loriot shows here a sensitivity typical of 20th-century landscape painting, with recalls to the Impressionist heritage, particularly in the rendering of light and in the vibrant atmosphere. The delicate palette, enriched by bright accents, gives the whole a notable visual freshness.

On the back bears a handwritten inscription: “Honfleur – France”.
The work is presented in an elegant gilded wooden frame.
