"Brackets Smile" When I created this artwork, we were going through a global monetary crisis with difficulties for everyone. Now, what I wrote and the meaning of the artwork make perfect sense again.
"We still have to know how to smile, otherwise life has no meaning.
Even if it has to be with a little support, to keep moving forward." I used the Smiley icon to convey the message.

Damião Vieira
Born in Gondomar in 1964.
He attended the Dec. Soares dos Reis School of Arts.
He works professionally in the field of graphic arts. He began his career as a painter in 1984.
He was inspired and influenced by several artists. Currently, his painting is more contemporary, also encompassing other styles such as Pop Art, with great success. He has participated in solo and group exhibitions, both nationally and internationally, winning awards and publishing works. He has works in Portugal and abroad. He has collaborated with several galleries in the area of ​​graphic design, and also as a curator. He started in digital illustration and its publication on paper and textiles, with his brand IlustraPoster. Which will also have editions here on Catawiki.

Damião Vieira is the type of person who can be considered a worker of the arts – that is, a true artist. Although self-taught, she has always had the privilege of working with master painters, thanks to her work as a graphic arts technician in the art world. She absorbed the best of their teachings without having to submit to academic dogmatism. Her artistic vein has been evident since the day she was born, in 1964, in Gondomar, in the Porto district. She attended the Soares dos Reis School of Decorative Arts, but life's circumstances never allowed her to pursue higher education.Since then, she has never stopped expressing herself artistically, exhibiting in a wide variety of places and situations, seeking different styles and forms of expression. However, it was only in recent years that she began to give voice to her intuitions and her natural creativity.
