Biography:
Kobalt, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the journey of a polymath artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was already present thanks to his father, a draftsman, Kobalt discovers at a very young age his first passion, music creation. This passion guides him in his youth, and his early talents lead him to take a bold decision: invest the money meant to fund his higher education to invest in creating his first album.
Distributed by EMI, the album did not meet the expected success, but it marked the beginning of a rich, experimental artistic career.
Alongside his musical career, Kobalt enters the advertising world as a copywriter for the iconic magazine Playboy. For many years, he has dedicated his creativity to the publication by creating and producing the magazine’s advertising campaigns.
The turning point of his career comes in 2005 when he becomes a cameraman, exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovers a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully establishes his own photography agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.
In 2017, Kobalt makes a radical choice to sell his agency to fully embrace graphic art, inspired by his son, who has become a major figure in global street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted artistic creation, Kobalt stands out with nearly 3,000 works sold in galleries and online to date.
His artistic approach is marked by bold use of humor, provocation, and anachronisms, with a particular penchant for reworking magazine covers—a style that makes him instantly recognizable.
Despite the digital era, Kobalt has chosen to stay on the margins of social media, preserving a certain privacy. Today, he uses all available digital tools to bring his creations to life, continuing to push the boundaries of artistic expression with a subtle blend of inspiration, innovation, and humor.
