Biography:
Kobalt, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the career of a polymath artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was already present thanks to his father, a draftsman, Kobalt discovered at a very young age his first passion, musical creation. This passion guides him in his youth, and his early talents lead him to make a bold decision: to invest the money destined to fund his higher studies to invest it in creating his first album.
Distributed by EMI, the album did not meet the expected success, but it marked the beginning of a rich artistic career full of experimentation.
Alongside his musical career, Kobalt enters the world of advertising as a designer/writer for the iconic magazine Playboy. For many years, he lends his creativity to the publication by creating and producing the magazine’s advertising campaigns.
The turning point in his career comes in 2005 when he becomes a cameraman, exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovers a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founds his own photography agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.
In 2017, Kobalt makes the radical choice to sell his agency to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who became a major figure in world street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted artistic creation, Kobalt stands out with nearly 3,000 works sold in galleries and online to date.
His artistic approach is characterized by bold use of humor, provocation, and anachronisms, with a particular inclination for subverting magazine covers, a style that makes him instantly recognizable.
Despite the digital era, Kobalt has chosen to stay away from social networks, thus preserving a certain privacy. Today, he uses all available digital tools to bring his creations to life, continuing to push the boundaries of artistic expression with a subtle blend of inspiration, innovation, and humor.
