A male figure emerges from deep blue, head thrown back, face tilted toward an unseen point above. The features carry the idealized structure of classical sculpture - but the form is broken. Sections of the head are absent, worn away, the curling hair dissolving at the edges into the surrounding darkness as though the figure is in the process of being lost. VANTA has carved this damaged presence from a single blue foundation through paint removal, the missing pieces as deliberate as what remains.
The damage is not violence - it is time. The removal work defines what survives with care: the ridge of a brow, the sealed mouth, the exposed throat stretching upward. Represented by S-Gallery and available on Catawiki. Around these details the form begins to dissolve, the boundary between figure and blue void becoming indistinct in ways that feel archaeological rather than accidental.
What a broken statue holds that a whole one cannot is the evidence of duration - the proof that it existed long enough to be worn down. The figure reaches upward into blue darkness, incomplete and entirely present.
