This piece in 80 × 80 × 4.5 cm is created on a wide, high-quality canvas and moves between painting and sculpture.
In the light, the surface unfolds with a clear presence. Depending on the incidence of light and the viewing angle, texture and depth change, individual layers stand out more. The work feels spatial and physical — perception is formed by walking, standing, and lingering.
Frequency COBALT — Sculpture of light, structure & presence
Frequency COBALT is inspired by sound and frequency. From my work as a pianist, I translate rhythm, pause, and repetition into a visual structure.
The composition follows a reduced order. Repetitions create tensions comparable to held tones, while subtle color shifts mark transitions.
Work details:
Title: Frequency COBALT
Size: 80 × 80 cm × 4.5 cm
Technique & materials: Acrylic paint and heavy-gel texture paste on canvas, built up in layers with various spatulas. The pigments form elevations and overlays with calm, pulsating tension.
Only materials of the highest quality are used: acrylic paints from Amsterdam Expert, texture pastes from Liquitex — all locally produced in Austria.
Frame: Wide support frame made of solid natural wood (included in the price).
(Silver decorative frame not included)
Images: The images were taken under professional studio lighting. Light is essential for the color play of the works. The artist recommends placement under direct or indirect light to fully showcase the color play and make the works come alive.
To gain a better understanding of the works and the interplay of light, I encourage buyers to view the videos of the various works on Instagram at @sarah.schwarzl.art.
Signature & authenticity: Hand-signed on the back. Delivered with a signed certificate of authenticity.

Sarah Schwarzl’s artistic language developed from movement and music. Dance was her first expression, later followed by the piano. Both shape her understanding of rhythm, structure and tension.
