Pocket watch signed Michel Michaux Limoges with a silver case, a manual-winding movement, 46 mm case diameter, dating from 1850–1900, in good condition with visible wear and currently in working order.
Description from the seller
Antique pocket watch signed “Michel Michaux – Limoges”, representative of regional French watchmaking from the late 19th to early 20th century.
Michel Michaux may have been a watchmaker or dealer based in Limoges, a French city known not only for porcelain but also for a diversified artisanal tradition, including watchmaking and jewelry. Like many watchmakers of the era, it is likely he marketed watches under his name, using movements produced by specialized manufacturers (a common practice in the European watchmaking industry of the period).
The watch features an enamel white dial with Roman numerals for the hours and an outer minute track in Arabic numerals. Metal hands in a classic style, apparently original.
Case in silver, properly contrasted, with wear consistent with age. Inner lid engraved with “Michel Michaux – Limoges”.
The manual-wind mechanical movement is visible and displays the typical architecture of watchmaking of the time, with simple bridges and functional construction. Serial number visible on the interior.
I do not have records of the last service but it is working.
