René Prin (1905–1985), nicknamed the painter of rain, is a post-impressionist artist whose work captures with rare sensitivity the humid atmospheres and changing lights of Normandy and the banks of the Seine. Trained partly under the benevolent eye of Maximilien Luce, he develops an intimate painting, made of subtle nuances, reflections and silent landscapes. His scenes of rain, snow or ports enveloped in mist are among the most sought after. Even today, his paintings charm with their poetry, their gentleness and their timeless elegance, making René Prin a safe bet for collectors as well as for lovers of atmospheric art.
