Born in Uccle in 1930 and settled in Paris from the late 1940s, Marc Janson belongs to that generation of painters who restored painting’s power of evocation and mystery. Trained notably with Édouard MacAvoy, he developed very early a singular plastic language, nourished by surrealism, cloudscape (nuagisme), and a prolific imagination where vegetal, animal, and human form mingle in a unique visual poetry.
His work, shown in Paris, Brussels, Milan, Geneva, Singapore or Honolulu, has been presented in leading institutions such as the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris or the Fondation Maeght. Several of his works have been acquired by FNAC, confirming institutional recognition of his work.
Janson creates suspended worlds, traversed by airy forms, mythical gardens, and metamorphic creatures. His paintings, often described as “dreamlike,” captivate with their narrative depth and technical refinement. They offer collectors an immediately identifiable universe, at once rare, poetic, and timeless.
