AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pair of tin-glazed earthenware plates with a peacock and bouquet decoration, Les Islettes, circa 1800-50.

The bouquet plate is hand-formed, wheel-thrown and hand-stamped, while the peacock plate is formed in a more mechanized manner. Both show traces of pin marks at the foot.

With serpentine shapes, the bouquet shows a slight movement in mass, whereas the peacock is more rigid in its form.

Tin-glazed earthenware on a yellowish clay body.

Bouquet and peacock motifs hand-painted in the basin, slightly dreamy, with hand-painted small flowers brushed on the wing.

Overall good condition with a few glaze skips and light superficial scratches; see photos.

The peacock measures 24 cm in diameter and 2.5 cm high, the bouquet 23 cm in diameter and 3 cm high.
