Aélia Vantor, Voile d’Éther, a 12 × 16 inch giclée on canvas, edition limited to 1/10, signed, dated 2020 et après, sold with frame by Galerie in France.
Description from the seller
In Voile d’Éther, the artist captures a female presence suspended between reality and abstraction, where identity dissolves into an impalpable matter. The gaze — usually the anchor of every emotion — disappears here behind a dense, luminous cloud, transforming the face into a mysterious, almost inaccessible territory.
The composition, anchored in a contemporary editorial aesthetic, plays with a subtle contrast between realism and erasure. The skin, rendered with striking photographic precision, reveals every detail, every natural imperfection, while the smoke interrupts this readability, like a poetic intrusion into the real.
The bust-length framing, bathed in soft, diffuse light, places the figure in minimalist elegance. The fabric of the garment, flowing and textured, catches the light with delicacy, reinforcing this sense of calm and mastery. In contrast, the veil of smoke, dense and organic, introduces a visual tension — a point of rupture that irresistibly draws the eye.
The absence of eyes does not create a lack but an invitation: to project, to imagine, to feel beyond the visible. The work questions our relationship to identity, perception, and beauty, suggesting that what is hidden can sometimes be more powerful than what is shown.
The signature Aélia, discreetly placed, acts as an almost intimate trace, sealing the balance between aesthetic mastery and artistic expression.
More than a portrait, Voile d’Éther is an exploration of erasure as a visual language, where apparent softness dialogues with enigmatic depth.
Limited edition of 10 copies — one exemplar offered: 1/10.
Each print is numbered and signed. The edition will be permanently closed after the tenth copy, with no reprint in this format.
