Description from the seller

In the 1960s, returning from the East, Marc Riboud passionately followed the struggles for African independence. He first discovers the Republic of Ghana, the first country to throw off colonial rule in Black Africa. Sent to report on decolonization, he observes, in front of the port of Accra, the piroguesmen facing the treacherous bar that prevents ships from entering the harbor. On board another boat, the photographer captures the surge of the men, their energy, their harmony. He then travels to Nigeria, the Congo, Niger, and also Kenya, closely following the emancipatory fever of these countries, sensitive to their sorrows and their hopes.
