Limited edition of 290 copies numbered only, this one being a numbered copy from the main issue on large Rives vélin and illustrated with drypoints by René William Thomas. The work gathers selected texts devoted to Venice, including Henri de Régnier (1864-1936), Arsène Houssaye (1814-1896), Lord Byron (1788-1824), Tommaso Campanella (1568-1639), Maurice Barrès (1862-1923), José-Maria de Heredia (1842-1905), Théophile Gautier (1811-1872), Alfred de Musset (1810-1857), André Chénier (1762-1794), August von Platen-Hallermünde (1796-1835), Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832), Charles de Brosses (1709-1777), George Sand (1804-1876), Marcel Proust (1871-1922), John Ruskin (1819-1900), François-René de Chateaubriand (1768-1848) and Gabriele d’Annunzio (1863-1938).
This anthology forms a true gallery of perspectives on Venice, between dream, travel, artistic contemplation, and historical meditation. The illustration includes 14 original drypoints hors texte, of which 5 are double-page, printed on the presses of Manuel Robbe for Éditions d’Art Les Heures Claires.
In folios, with a full cloth slipcase, and nesting in its inner packing.
