Description from the seller
Broeckman, Anne Marinus
Amsterdam, 1 March 1874 - Laren, 15 August 1946
Biography: Anne Marinus Broeckman
Anne Marinus Broeckman was born on 1 March 1874 in Amsterdam. He was a pupil of K.A.A.J. Boom and G.W. Dijsselhof. He lived and worked in Amsterdam until 1906, then in Laren from 1906 to 1916. Afterwards he left for a year to Zandvoort and then returned again to Laren. He lived in Laren at Kostverloren 2/4 and 't Paadje 18 and in Blaricum at 't Binnedoor 9 (above the old Pharmacy) in Blaricum.
In his Laren period he painted in an impressionistic style large heath landscapes and figure studies of men and women. Broeckman was a member of the artists’ association "De Tien" and was thus included among the Gooische painters. His portraits and still lifes in the style of Dysselhof and his teacher Boom are no more or less noteworthy than his perhaps skilled copies. He died in Laren at the age of 72 on 15 August 1946. He was buried at St. Janskerkhof in Laren. This concerns a beautiful oil painting with a classical antique frame; the photos are taken outdoors in natural light.
