Calvo, Oltre l'Ordine, an original 2026 acrylic on canvas with mixed media technique, signed, in red, white/creme and yellow, measuring 100 cm high by 77 cm wide, depicting an interior scene in a contemporary style.
Description from the seller
The work is an acrylic mixed media on canvas, an abstract and graphic art expression that combines geometric linearity with organic and gestural forms. The composition is divided vertically and dominated by a strong chromatic contrast.
Left Half:
The left half is defined by clean, geometric lines. Two vertical bands of vivid red are separated by a white-gray background characterized by a dense, chaotic texture of short, thin black lines interwoven, reminiscent of a grid or scratches. At the far left, a black, thin, precise line frames the composition.
Center:
In the center, in sharp contrast with the geometric linearity of the background, emerges an organic and gestural shape. A thick, dark black line winds vertically with an undulating and organic motion, interrupted by short horizontal segments and curves that create a complex and indecipherable figure. This central form seems to float above the geometric texture of the background, adding an element of spontaneity and vitality.
Right Half:
The right half is dominated by a large vivid red circle, occupying almost all the space. This circle is not uniform, but reproduces the same dense and chaotic texture of the geometric backdrop, with short red and white lines interwoven to create a vibrant and almost organic visual effect, like a woven or scratched surface. The intense red of the circle echoes that of the vertical bands on the left, unifying the composition.
Signature:
Bottom right, almost in the corner, is the artist’s signature, "Calvo", in lowercase, clean letters.
Interpretation:
The work rests on a play of contrasts: the geometric precision of the vertical lines against the gestural freedom of the central form, the flat surface against the complex texture, the vivid red against deep black and white-gray. This opposition can be interpreted as an exploration of the tension between order and chaos, reason and intuition, geometry and nature. The gestural central form almost reads like Oriental calligraphy, an ancient inscription or an abstract map, inviting the viewer to search for a hidden meaning.
The use of red and black gives the work a dramatic and visually powerful character.
