NO RESERVE - Le banc blanc, an oil painting from Spain (1960–1970) by École catalane (XX) in the Posimpresionismo style, 56 cm high and 70 cm wide, depicting an urban landscape, signed and in acceptable condition.
Description from the seller
Interesting painting that depicts a scene of an urban park, where the artist captures a planted corner with a white bench in the foreground, winding paths, pruned trees, and residential architecture in the background. The composition conveys a tranquil, everyday atmosphere, evoking the calm of a stroll in a public garden or urban park.
The scene is structured through a well-balanced composition. The bench in the foreground acts as the guiding element of the gaze, visually directing toward the interior of the landscape where paths, vegetation, and buildings provide spatial depth. The trees, represented with dark trunks and sculpted branches, introduce an interesting vertical rhythm that contrasts with the horizontal lines of the bench and the path.
The artist works with a visible, loose, and expressive brushstroke, characteristic of European painting in the 20th century. Forms are built through color planes and quick brushstrokes that capture the atmosphere of the place rather than meticulous detail. The color palette combines greens, ochers, pinks, and whites, creating a bright and balanced scene.
Special interest lies in the treatment of light and reflections in the small puddles along the path, which introduce color variations and add naturalism to the scene. The background architecture, of residential character, suggests an urban gardened setting reminiscent of European parks with a tradition of landscape design.
The signature appears in the lower right area of the composition and is integrated into the painting layer. Its reading is complex, although its coherence with the overall technical set of the work is clearly evident.
From a stylistic point of view, the work can be placed within a European school of the 20th century, in the tradition of modern landscape painting where capturing the atmosphere and the visual impression of the place prevail over academic detail.
The condition is generally good. The painting surface shows light signs of age and use, with small scuffs or occasional repainting, typical in older works.
The frame shows signs of wear from the passage of time, although it maintains an aesthetic presence suitable for display.
The frame will be sent as a gift, so it is not part of the lot value.
It comes from a private collection in Barcelona.
The photographs are an essential part of the description.
The artwork will be shipped using professional art-specific packaging, employing protective materials to ensure safe transport. Shipping includes tracking throughout the entire logistics process.
An interesting piece for its decorative character and its tranquil urban atmosphere, ideal for both collection and interior decoration.
