I wanted to create a composition featuring a man playing a classical guitar. His expression I aimed to be intense, with his eyes half-closed and a slight smile, suggesting total absorption in the music or a moment of melancholic introspection.
​My style and technique: for the painting I characterized it by decisive and visible brushstrokes, almost "sculptural" in places. I used a layered technique (impasto) that gives a lot of texture to the surface, especially in the background and on the guitarist's clothes.
​The framing is close on the musician, which creates a sense of intimacy. The guitar cuts diagonally across the scene, guiding the eye toward the man's face.
