Bronze bas-relief by Giuseppe Zapparelli (XX), titled Vittoria Alata, in large dimensions, unsigned, with dimensions 28 cm high, 19.5 cm in diameter and 5 cm deep, produced in Italy by Brescia.
Description from the seller
A beautiful large bronze relief that reproduces the Winged Victory, already minted on a medal by Giuseppe Zapparelli.
Notizie storico-critiche: In 1823 excavations began in the center of Brescia, at the initiative of the Academy and the Municipality, encouraged by neoclassical fervor, under the direction of the architect Rodolfo Vantini, Giovanni Labus and the painter Luigi Basiletti. During the excavations (which continued until 1830), in 1826 a large complex of ancient bronzes was found, among which the Winged Victory depicted here.
To celebrate the excavations a coin was minted by Zapparelli, between 1826 and 1880.
SI offre in asta un tondo di bronzo di grandi dimensioni di 19,5 cm di diametro che riproduce la Vittoria Alata.
Excellent condition, on a marble base.
