Two vintage tennis rackets from the late 1970s to 1980, including a Wilson Avenger Midsize Graphite‑Composite with PWS and an Adidas Space with Trefoil, each with its original cover, used with visible wear to frames and grips and with strings present but not new.
Description from the seller
Attractive set of two classic tennis rackets from the late transition period from traditional racket construction to modern graphite-composite constructions, dateable to the late 1970s to 1980s.
This set combines two different models from renowned manufacturers and vividly reflects the technical as well as design development of tennis in that era.
The light-colored racket is a model “Avenger Midsize” from Wilson, made of graphite-composite and equipped with the so-called Perimeter Weighting System (PWS), designed for improved stability and control. Characteristic are the midsize racket face and the clear, functional lines.
The second racket is a model “Space” from Adidas and carries the classic Trefoil logo (three-leaf clover), which was particularly used in the 1970s and early 1980s and is today attributed to the Adidas Originals line. This model stands for the early phase of modern sports equipment development at Adidas and impresses with its era-typical design.
Models of this kind were produced in noticeably smaller quantities than today’s mass-produced products and are now rarely in circulation. Accordingly, they are increasingly gaining importance for collectors and enthusiasts of vintage sports articles.
Both rackets are supplied with original protective covers, which also originate from the period.
⸻
Condition:
Used, age-appropriate condition.
• Visible signs of wear on frames and handles
• Original grip tapes, partially worn
• Stringing present, but not new
• Protective covers with age-related discoloration and signs of wear
