Description from the seller
Antique bronze nine-light menorah, made of dark-toned bronze with an aged patina, probably manufactured in France. Mid-20th century (circa 1940–1970), following traditional Jewish menorah models of the Hanukkiah type, intended for the celebration of Hanukkah. The piece features a symmetric structure with eight candle cups aligned horizontally and a ninth central support slightly elevated, corresponding to the “shamash” or auxiliary candle, a distinctive feature of this type of ritual object. The design combines functionality and aesthetics, with a solid rectangular base and a stylized central body with a decorative oval opening that lightens the visual structure, imparting a modern air within a classical language. Its approximate dimensions are 20 cm long, 11 cm high and 3.5 cm wide, with a weight of 375 grams, indicating a compact piece, stable and for domestic use. The candle cups present a truncated-conical shape with an upper rim, suitable for standard thin candles. The surface shows a homogeneous patina with wear areas, small marks, light oxidations and signs of use, especially in the cups, which confirms real use and adds authenticity. The base retains remnants of felt or bottom protection, partially deteriorated, common in pieces of this type to protect surfaces. No visible maker marks are discernible, something common in serial or semi-handcrafted productions from the mid-20th century. The overall condition is good, with evident signs of use and age but no structural damage, maintaining its integrity and full functionality. An interesting piece both for its decorative value and its cultural and religious significance, ideal for Judaica collectors, ritual objects or vintage decoration with historical character. It is shipped via Correos España or similar, certified and insured.
