Approximately 48 cm high, a vintage globe dating to 1930–1940 with a wooden base, metal meridian, and paper map, produced in Germany (Berlin region), showing former German colonies and with a worn condition including scratches and possibly missing small parts.
Description from the seller
Still remnants from the large collection of my grandfather who passed away years ago-
Large, about 48 cm high... rare terrestrial globe from 1920-40 with the Deutsch-Ostafrika and West Africa colonies!
I would date the globe more towards 1940, since, as can be seen, France and Poland already wear the same map color as Germany, meaning they were already occupied and incorporated into the German Reich.
Again militarized zones in Alsace, Austria already incorporated into the German Reich, as well as territories occupied by the Wehrmacht such as Poland, etc.!! - * The piece must therefore have been made after the war began, toward the end of 1939!
The beautiful wooden base with compass can be unscrewed. The globe can be turned and has a metal arc with a degree scale.
Unfortunately, the rare piece bears several scratches and dents, etc.!
Thank you
