Description from the seller
David Bailey
Changing Rainbows + Trouble and Strife
Commissioned by the most notable fashion magazines of the time, including Vogue Italia and France, these portraits of what Vogue defined as "the Bailey girl" include models such as Jean Shrimpton, Marie Helvin, Penelope Tree and Bailey's wife, Catherine Dyer. In addition to these are Bailey's striking ethnographic portraits, for example the Asaro mud men and Indian dancers, and his paintings, at the center of which lies a kind of abstract beauty. In his enlightening introduction, Robin Muir places these photographs in the context of the period in which they were taken and reminds us that for over forty years Bailey has challenged our notions of female beauty with his very personal vision.
1. Muir R.; David Bailey: Changing Rainbows. Hardcover, dust jacket, 27 x 34 cm, 224 pages, German language; Gottingen, Steidl Verlag, 2002. Excellent condition.
2. Clarke B., Lartigue J. H.; David Bailey's Trouble and Strife. Paperback, 24 x 24 cm, 124 pages, 81 photographs, English language; London, Thames & Hudson, 1983. Good condition.
