Description from the seller
VEILED IDENTITY
50x60 cm
Acrylic and paper on board
2026
This work arises from the encounter between fragility and transformation. The face, suspended between presence and absence, is crossed by a quiet tension: half human, half symbolic evocation. The animal element, which overlaps and at the same time protects, becomes a threshold between identity and metamorphosis, between what we show and what we hide.
The skin, speckled and imperfect, tells an authentic beauty, far from any idealization. The lace details and delicate textures contrast with the visual strength of the animal figure, creating a continuous dialogue between vulnerability and defense.
From a technical standpoint, the painting is made on a wooden support prepared with a collage of layers of newspaper, emerging as stratified memory beneath the painting surface. The use of acrylic allows building glazes and sharp contrasts, emphasizing the duality between light and shadow, matter and image.
The edges of the painting are painted and finished, allowing the work to be exhibited without a frame.
I used a clear glossy protective varnish.
This work is an invitation to observe what lies behind appearances, where identity and instinct coexist in a fragile and powerful balance.
The piece will be shipped with its certificate of authenticity.
Shipping only within the European Union.

Chiara Napolitano was born in 1986 in Carpi. Since childhood she has shown a natural talent for drawing; she graduated from the A. Venturi Art Institute in Modena and, later, began to make herself known by offering pop art copies at art and craft markets.
Meanwhile, her artistic inquiry evolved to define a personal and authentic style. Women with melancholy gazes, color drips, torn pieces of paper that crease the scene, deliberately imperfect, are all recognizable elements that have contributed over time to defining her identity and artistic sensitivity.
The artist uses these women to express her own moods.
Each face, each gesture, tells a unique story.
Chiara Napolitano’s portraits surface the textures of the soul, that intricate and restless melding of emotions, inner motions, and ambitions common to all of us.
Chiara Napolitano has participated in several group and solo exhibitions.
Her works have found homes in private collections around the world, in the United States, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, the Netherlands (note: Netherlands already, adjust), France, Spain, and Poland.
