Description from the seller
Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) Bronze Jardinière with Maiden Bust – France (ca. 1900–1920)
In excellent condition – No reserve.
A highly decorative and sculptural Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) jardinière, executed in solid bronze and originating from France, dating to the early 20th century (circa 1900–1920).
This elegant piece is a fine example of the flowing, organic aesthetics of the Belle Époque. The design is centered around a finely cast maiden’s bust, framed by sinuous floral and vegetal motifs. The elongated, asymmetrical handles resemble stylized plant forms, a hallmark of the Art Nouveau movement, while the entire composition rests on four integrated feet, giving it a balanced and architectural presence.
The removable inner liner enhances both functionality and presentation, historically intended for use as a centerpiece or indoor planter. The richly detailed relief work and sculptural quality make this piece a true eye-catcher from every angle.
Art Nouveau objects such as this were designed to bring nature into the domestic interior, emphasizing craftsmanship and artistic unity—qualities clearly visible in this refined example of French decorative metalwork.
Dimensions: 9 x 25,5 x 9 cm (h x w x d)
Weight: approx. 820 grams
Material: Solid bronze
Origin: France
Period: Early 20th century (ca. 1900–1920)
