Vintage 1970s necklace attributed to Chanel, designed by Archimede Seguso, featuring two shades of pink blown glass elements with glass pearls and dark spacer beads, 47 cm long, total weight 51.3 g, in good vintage condition with light signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Elegant and rare vintage necklace from the 1970s made by Archimede Seguso to a Chanel design.
The design echoes the famous chain motif in molded glass, typical of Seguso Glassworks’ production for Chanel between the late 1960s and the 1970s. The necklace is composed of blown and molded glass elements in a refined two-tone pink (light pink and deeper pink), interspersed with small glass pearls and dark spacers that enhance its structure.
The overall effect is luminous, feminine, and highly recognizable, expression of the perfect fusion between French haute couture and Venetian glassmaking tradition.
Characteristics:
• Maison: Chanel (attributed)
• Designer / Manufacture: Archimede Seguso, Murano (attributed)
• Period: circa the 1970s
• Origin: Venice, Italy
• Materials: worked glass, glass pearls, gilded metallic elements
• Color: two shades of pink
• Necklace length: 47 cm
• Link/mesh dimensions: about 3.5 × 1.7 cm
• Clasp: lobster clasp in gold-colored metal

This type of glass jewelry is documented in specialist literature on Italian costume jewelry. In particular, a necklace belonging to the same stylistic line, made by Archimede Seguso for Chanel (Venice, 1969), is published in the following reference volumes:
• Bianca Cappello, Storia della Bigiotteria Italiana, Skira
• Bianca Cappello – Augusto Panini, Gioielli di Vetro. Dalla Preistoria al III Millennio, Antiga Edizioni
This series, characterized by colored glass elements assembled in a chain with gilded metallic details, represents one of the most iconic and influential designs in Murano production for Chanel.
