Born in 1977, Jone Hopper is a French street artist. In the late 1980s, he learned his craft on the streets through the emerging graffiti movement of that era. He tags his name on streets, walls, and trains. Known for his characters and aerosol signatures, he founded the collective TBS (The Brutal Style) with Skepa and a few other committed graffiti writers. We know little about him because the artist stays faithful to the spirit of graffiti and wishes to remain anonymous, believing that it is the work that should be highlighted, not the individual. Nonexistent on social media, absent from openings, a faceless artist, he remains a true mystery except for a few gallery owners in the know. He compares his painting to a piece of Hip Hop; he acts like a sampler... samples, cuts, assembles, and thus creates new images.
