Dieter Rams designed the Braun T2 table lighter, manufactured in West Germany around 1968–1970, in metal with plastic components, 5.4 cm in diameter and 8.7 cm high, in excellent condition with a slight patina and a functioning ignition mechanism.
Description from the seller
This Braun table lighter model T2 was designed by Dieter Rams in the late 1960s, during one of the most significant periods for European industrial design.
The model embodies the fundamental principles of the “good design” theorized by Rams: functionality, formal clarity and reduction to the essential. Its minimalist and rigorous language has deeply influenced contemporary design, reaching as far as the design philosophy of companies like Apple and designers like Jonathan Ive.
The T2 is today considered an icon of 20th-century design and is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Made in metal with a smooth finish, it represents an emblematic example of Braun’s West German production between the late 1960s and the early 1970s.
It is an original vintage item, increasingly appreciated in the collectible design market.
