Description from the seller
Elegant Savonarola chair with two knobs at the ends of the armrests, with rings, and on the seat a purple velvet cushion that adds more elegance to the object. Made by Florentine artisans in beech wood.
Realizzata nella metà del XX° secolo in Italia , precisamente nella regione loscana.
The Savonarola chair is a folding chair, foldable like a book and made up of serpentine curved elements that cross in an X.
The term "Savonarola" derives from the name of Girolamo Savonarola (1452 - 1498), in whose time the chair of this type would still be preserved in his cell at the San Marco convent in Florence, where he lived from 1482 until his death.
In good overall condition, normal signs of wear and age (see photos); the backrest features a lengthwise seam, glued, which does not impair its functionality. The chair has recently been treated with anti-tar.
The item will be shipped with tracking code.
Note: for all European islands including the Canary Islands, Malta and Cyprus, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Ireland United Kingdom, Singapore and Israel, Iceland, Norway, Finland and Sweden, Greece, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the shipping cost will be agreed at the time of the auction of the lot.
