In the Umbrian region, cradle of the pre-Renaissance era,
important for those first realistic sparks
that sprang from nature and from those empirical forms
of spatial representation, lives Carlo Mirabasso.
A humble yet thoughtful artist who, intelligently,
brings together a way of painting that is at times geometric and rhythmic
with that primordial expressive quality of the volumes of the medieval world,
perhaps the embryo of all modern art to come.
A "delicate harmony" that in his panel works,
like thirteenth-century altarpieces, between studies of pre-Cubist matrix
and landscape verticalities, is completed in his painting techniques,
almost marble-like; rich in a subtle material symbolism
with mural significance in which the fresco technique reappears and,
in that calmness of places, dear to De Chirico,
where space and time stop in the frame image,
Mirabasso brings to the surface sensations of metaphysical memory.
