Description from the seller
A work by the Italian painter and sculptor Bruno Di Pietro.
A multidisciplinary artist, active for over fifty years on the national and international contemporary scene, he has held hundreds of solo and group exhibitions across Italy and Europe. He is known for artistic research that combines tradition and experimentation: his production often focuses on landscapes, figures and abstract compositions, characterized by expressive use of color and a strong attention to the painting's materiality.
In his work, influences from both Italian classical painting and modern currents emerge, with works that aim to convey emotions and moods rather than realistic representations. He has participated in numerous art exhibitions, contributing to the local and national cultural scene.
The work in question belongs to the artist's latest period, in which he reworks and rediscovers the style and technique of the second period, dedicated to the depiction of woods rendered through a textured relief. In these compositions there appear thin, vertical trunks that occupy almost the entire surface of the canvas, excluding roots and crowns, in a space without defined boundaries.
In this work, of modest size, the composition is monochromatic, dominated by light and neutral tones — beige, ivory and white — which confer a sense of calm and harmony. The vertical lines, with slight tilts, suggest movement and depth, while the absence of color and of naturalistic details shifts the focus to the essence of the forms and the surface. The overall effect is minimalist and poetic, evoking a silent and contemplative landscape.
The work, hand-signed on the back, is already accompanied by a white pass-partout with dimensions 50x70 so that it can be framed.
