Immersion explores the threshold between presence and dissolution. The face emerges from the water in a suspended state, where time seems to slow and breath becomes consciousness. The figure does not struggle against the medium that surrounds it; rather, it accepts it, allowing the water to become an extension of the body and of thought.
The direct gaze establishes an intimate relationship with the observer, summoning them into this same space of silence and pressure. The water, simultaneously protective and oppressive, functions as a metaphor for deep emotional states — vulnerability, introspection, restrained will.
In this work, immersion is not loss but transformation. It is a moment of recollection, where identity remains intact despite the force that surrounds it, suggesting that, even submerged, we remain conscious, present and whole.
