Antwerpen - Het eilandje, a 1905 watercolour on paper by Belgian artist Alphonse Van Beurden (1878-1961), in the Impressionism style, signed lower right, original edition, framed, in excellent condition, 56 x 49 cm.
Description from the seller
Alphonse Van Beurden Jr. (1878-1961) was a Flemish painter, watercolorist, pastellist and sculptor. He is known for his flower still lifes, interiors, harbor views, and landscapes.
Gerardus Alphonsus Van Beurden was the son of Alphonse Van Beurden, the sculptor, and Susanna Delvaen. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, where he would later teach.
He was friends with Eugeen Van Mieghem, who, due to financial constraints, from October 1904 had his wife Augustine pose as a model for a number of painters, including Van Beurden.
Like his father, he was a member of Als ik kan.
