Description from the seller
New series – Lost souls
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
A multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first became known for a series dedicated to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence led to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Lost Souls
With this series, David Law dives into streamlined, dark universes, inhabited by floating ghostly silhouettes. These indistinct, almost erased presences wander through strange landscapes where emptiness becomes substance. Through a visual language built with contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores the notions of isolation, trace, and memory. A silent crossing, at the border between visible and invisible.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies plus 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, pasted between two aluminum plates, with a flexible UV- and humidity-resistant laminate, ensuring excellent durability, long-term stability of colors, and a modern, contemporary look.
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual work, he develops a body of work as author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
