Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery

As a multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban spaces. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop-window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.

New series – Lost Souls

With this series, David Law dives into pared-down, dark universes, inhabited by suspended phantom silhouettes. These indistinct presences, almost erased, wander through strange landscapes where emptiness becomes matter. Through a visual language built with the help of contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores notions of isolation, trace and memory. A silent journey, at the borders of the visible and the invisible.

Edition & Fabrication

Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Printed on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term color stability, and a modern, contemporary rendering.

Career

Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the dedicated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual work, he develops an author’s practice and musician as a creator, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
