David Law
Artist Photographer – Creator of Contemporary Images
A multidisciplinary artist and photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to window display mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new body of works based on artistic photomosaics and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of micro-visual fragments generated with current graphic tools, then selected, structured and meticulously recombined by the artist. From afar, the image appears immediately legible, strong and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture composed of thousands of elements subtly interwoven. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the fabrication of the contemporary image and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and singular work.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with integrated rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant laminate, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability, and a modern, contemporary appearance.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a body of work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
