Description from the seller
New series – Contemporary Photomosaics
Dark Icons Series
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later drawn to the singular aesthetic of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Contemporary Photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has developed a new body of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is developed from a multitude of micro-visual fragments generated using current graphic tools, then carefully selected, structured and recomposed by the artist. From afar, the image appears immediately legible, strong and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture made of thousands of subtly interwoven elements. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the fabrication of the contemporary image and how a multitude of fragments can give birth to a cohesive and unique work.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with an integrated back mount. Printing on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and moisture-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Biography
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual activity, he develops a writer-artist and musician career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY."
