Description from the seller

New Series – Urban Legends

David Law

Photographer-Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images

Multidisciplinary photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on looking, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop-window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence led to an art book published in 2021. Later drawn by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.

New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics

Since 2022, David Law has developed a new body of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of microvisual fragments generated using current graphic tools, then selected, structured and meticulously recomposed by the artist. From a distance, the image appears immediately legible, strong and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture composed of thousands of subtly interwoven elements. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the fabrication of contemporary imagery and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and distinctive work.

Edition & Fabrication

Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are made on aluminum with an integrated rear mount. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with a flexible UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, great long-term resistance, color stability and a modern, contemporary look.

Parcours

Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual activity, he develops an author’s work and musician’s career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY."
