Description from the seller

New Series – Urban Legends

David Law

Photographer-Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images

Multidisciplinary photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on the gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to storefront dummies, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and overlaps. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost lifelike presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.

New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics

Since 2022, David Law has developed a new body of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of visual micro-fragments generated using current graphic tools, then carefully selected, structured and recomposed by the artist. From afar, the image appears immediately legible, strong and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture made of thousands of elements subtly interwoven. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the making of the contemporary image and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and singular work.

Edition & Fabrication

Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist's proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminium with an integrated back mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with soft UV- and moisture-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term resistance, color stability, and a modern, contemporary finish.

Parcours

Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual activity, he develops authorial and musician work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
