Description from the seller

New Series – Urban Legends

David Law

Photographer-Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery

A multidisciplinary photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of images in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle game of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Then drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.

New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics

Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new body of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of micro-visual fragments generated with current graphic tools, then selected, structured and meticulously recomposed by the artist. From afar, the image appears immediately legible, strong and asserted. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture composed of thousands of elements subtly interwoven. This work relies on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the fabrication of contemporary imagery and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and singular work.

Edition & Fabrication

Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a built-in back mount. Printing on luminous white vinyl, adhered between two aluminum plates, with a soft UV- and moisture-resistant laminate, ensuring excellent longevity, great durability over time, color stability and a modern, contemporary look.

Parcours

Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual work, he develops an authorial and musical practice including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
