Description from the seller

New series – Urban Legends

David Law

Photographer-Artist – Creator of contemporary images

Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to storefront dummies, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Struck by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relation to illusion and projection.

New series – Contemporary photomosaics

Since 2022, David Law has developed a new corpus of works based on artistic photomosaics and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of visual micro-fragments generated using current graphic tools, then selected, structured and carefully recomposed by the artist. From afar, the image appears immediately legible, strong and affirmed. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture composed of thousands of subtly intertwined elements. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the fabrication of the contemporary image and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and singular artwork.

Edition & Fabrication

Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 copies numbered + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a built-in rear hanging system. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with UV and moisture-resistant soft lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, great long-term resistance, color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering

Parcours

Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the dedicated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual activity, he develops a work as author and musician including 3 novels, a short story collection, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. As a singer-guitarist he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
