Stefano Nurra - Grass

Grass develops on a compact green surface, crossed by white cuts that break the unity of the space. The brushstrokes, dense and directional, build a vibrant ground, almost alive, where the painterly matter itself becomes landscape.

The white lines, irregular and thick, do not delimit but divide: they are unstable boundaries, fractures that interrupt continuity and continually redefine visual space. In this scenario, the two figures of tennis players appear isolated, suspended in portions of the court that do not fully communicate with each other.

The sporting gesture — a serve, an anticipation — turns into a failed dialogue. There is no direct confrontation, but distance: each figure is enclosed in its own fragment, forced to move within limits imposed by the very structure of the work.
